To end Science Week 2026, Professor Alice Motion sat down with two incredible scientists, astrophysicist Professor Geraint Lewis and chemist Dr Haihui Joy Jiang in front of a packed-out house at the Seymour Centre for The Impact Factor: Matter of Origin. This new public event series from the Faculty of Science allows the public to learn how discoveries from the University of Sydney are shaping the world's future.

I was blessed to compose an event theme for The Impact Factor. The brief was to create a short event intro that could be re-purposed for social media posts and guests transitions throughout individual events. It would inspire a sense of hope and motivation, and capture a sense of scientific toil and breakthrough; looking toward the future.

I've been focusing more on my sound selections lately and 'mixing downward' while I produce to make my mixes feel clearer and more impactful. I'm toying with the metaphor of a 'jigsaw' to describe mixing in my University teaching, and that really came into play with this track. Hopefully you can hear it...

New bit of music!

Business Casual is a bit of absolute fluff, but fluff I'm quite proud of. In late 2025, I was invited by the University to put on background music for a research event at Parliament House in Canberra.
